The Mail Train, Bishop Auckland Station

£25.00£75.00

Bishop Auckland railway station in the 1950s. Bishop station was rare in that it was triangular with trains coming and going from three directions around three platforms. This view is from Cockton Hill bridge. An A4 William Whitelaw is coming from Durham with the mail train, while a local passenger train from up Weardale is waiting for clearance. Both trains will pass through Shildon on the way to Darlington.
