Bishop Station, On the Platform

Description

This station was a triangular station with lines approaching from Durham via the viaduct, Darlington via Shildon, and Cumbria. This engine is waiting to take passengers up the Dale. As usual the station lost its importance in the Beeching years but still runs to Darlington and a restored Wear Valley line runs up the Dale.
