Bishop Auckland Viaduct

Description

This viaduct enabled trains from Bishop to run to Durham. When the railways were closed they were going to destroy the viaduct but there were protests and so it is now a road bridge from Bishop Auckland to Weardale. The smaller Skirlaw bridge was the original road bridge which is still used when high winds prevent traffic crossing the viaduct.
